Walter “Charlie” Cordy, 83, Stevens Point, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Burial will be in St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and again from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service.

Mr. Cordy was born March 11, 1929, in Lytle, Ohio, a son of the late Fredrick and Hazel (Young) Cordy. While growing up, his family lived in Ohio, Indiana, Florida and settled in the Stevens Point area in 1945.
He was married to Lorraine Bungert on Nov. 26, 1949. She died on Feb. 7, 1991.
He worked in the Stevens Point area most of his life.
He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, and a former senior volunteer for the Head Start Program as a foster grandparent and as a volunteer at the Lincoln Center. He helped with Meals on Wheels and volunteered his time at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Survivors include one son, Roger; two daughters, Cheryl and Barbara; two brothers, Fred (Carol) and Hubert (Ruth); two sisters, Rose (Richard) Brazil and Mary (Stanley) Hahn; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son; one daughter, Judy; one sister, Elizabeth; two brothers, Arthur and Thomas; and one great-grandson.
