Leonard Winkel, 95, formerly of Stevens Point, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Grace Bible Baptist Church in Leesburg, Fla., with Pastor George Mulford officiating.

Mr. Winkel was born and raised in Colby, after which he moved to Stevens Point to attend college.
While attending college he changed direction and joined the U.S. Army. He served during World War II as a medic and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
After being discharged from the Army in 1945, he returned to Stevens Point where he worked for Bake-Rite Bakery and then for Sentry Insurance.
He was married to his wife, Nettie, in 1950. She died in 2010.
They retired to Leesburg, Fla., in 1981.
Survivors include one son, Joe Sr., San Leandro, Calif.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
