August V. Marturano, 87, Stevens Point, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Oakridge Senior Living Center in Stevens Point.
Private family services were held.
Memorials in his name should be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association/Greater Wisconsin Chapter.

Mr. Marturano was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Marino) Marturano. He attended schools in the Chicago area.
He entered the U.S. Navy on June 4, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. He served as a carpenters mate 2nd class on the USS J. Franklin Bell and the USS Rizzi. He served in the Air Center at Guadalcanal and received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on April 6, 1946, in Great Lakes, Ill.
He was married to Dorothy E. Talley on May 31, 1946, in Richmond, Va.
Mr. Marturano worked for Flex-O-Glass and Duralam Manufacturing as plant manager for many years until his retirement in 1987.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Susan (Brian) Merriman, Parker, Colo., Kathleen (Bob) Mesce, Fox Lake, Ill., Lori (Jeff) DeWolfe, Mosinee, and Donna (Glenn) Toner, Lakeville, Minn.; one son, August Jr. (Deb), Merrill; two brothers, Joseph (Nancy), Bartlett, Ill., and Arthur (Judy), Glenview, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Marie.
