Mary L. Nass, 73, Raleigh, N.C., a Stevens Point native, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., following a battle with cancer.
A private family memorial was held Saturday at her daughter’s residence in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Ms. Nass was born July 24, 1939, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Lillian and Byron Carpenter.
She lived in Stevens Point until 1986, when she moved to Carrboro, N.C., with her former husband, David Nass.
Survivors include four daughters, Michelle (Neil) Kuplic, Linda (Ken) Brown, Sandy (John) Hughes and Brittany (Nick) Bitto; two sons, Kevin and Gary Goetz; one brother, Nathaniel Carpenter, Amherst; one sister, Eunice Klink, Green Bay; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Goetz; three brothers, Wayne, Jim and Pat; and two sisters, Caroline and Violet.
