William John Joanis, 60, a Stevens Point native, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.
Mr. Joanis was born in Stevens Point, a son of the late John Weston and Marian Sinrud-Joanis. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota Law School.
He was a lawyer in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for many years.
He was a squash player, taught English as a second language and was a strong human rights advocate.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Luikens); one son, Andrew Kress Joanis; one daughter, Marie (Gordon) Kress Joanis Ruff; and two sisters, Susan (Thomas Burton) Joanis and Mary Joanis.
