John C. Janick, 88, a resident at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, formerly of Stevens Point, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Riverside Hospital in Waupaca.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the services.

Mr. Janick was born June 15, 1924, in Milwaukee, a son of the late John and Albina (Zurawski) Janick.
He entered the U.S. Army on March 21, 1944, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He served as a private first class in Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the European/African/Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on June 1, 1946, at Fort McCoy.
He worked for Briggs and Stratton in Milwaukee before moving to Stevens Point. He then worked a number of years for Roberts Irrigation and Terra-Rain before his retirement.
Survivors include one brother, Richard (Delores), Stevens Point; and one sister, Leona (Leroy) Bandler, Greendale.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Leander.
