James Lorneze Belmont, 63, Plover, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, following a more than three year battle with cancer.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Thomas Petersen officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10262 following the service.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
Memorials will be established at a later date.

Mr. Belmont was born April 25, 1949, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Larry and Nadine Belmont. He attended St. Stephen Catholic School in Stevens Point and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1968. He studied business at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and was licensed as a Realtor by the state of Wisconsin in 1975.
In his early career, he worked at the Stevens Point Journal as a paper boy, as a car hop at the Blue Top Drive-In, as a UPS sorter and as a store clerk at Shippy Shoes Store.
He joined the U.S. Naval Service on Oct. 27, 1969. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor where he served as a storeroom clerk on the USS Reeves. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 26, 1975.
He was married to Cheryl A. Rusch on Jan. 8, 1972, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
In 1979, he began a career as a stockroom coordinator at Ore-Ida Foods (later McCain Foods), where he was still employed.
Mr. Belmont was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10262 and active in the Plover Billiards League.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jessica (Phillip) Koehler; three sisters, Joan Belmont and Mary (Dale) Rosicky, both of Stevens Point, and Sue (Jerry) Kedrowicz, Schoolcraft, Mich.; and three brothers, Mike (Janelle), Pardeville, Stephen (Barbara), Menasha, and Robert, Bedford, N.H.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, John.
