With most of its team back from last year, the Amherst High School girls basketball team has continued to roll this season.
The third-ranked Falcons returned four starters from last season’s team that won the Central Wisconsin Conference-8 (CWC-8) Title and finished with a 16-7 record.
Amherst is off to an 8-0 start so far this season, after it won a pair of games at the 41st Sentry Classic at Bennett Court at Quandt Fieldhouse Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28.
“Obviously sitting at 8-0 now, it’s going well record-wise,” said fourth-year Amherst girls basketball head coach Jay Pitt. “We’ve beaten some good teams, so I’m happy with the progress we’re making.
“We’ve got a long way to go yet, but it’s nicer to learn while you’re winning than to learn while you’re losing,” said coach Pitt. “If we can keep getting better through these games, I like the direction we’re headed.”
