Richard K. “Rick” Semling, 58, Wausau, brother of a Plover man, died Sunday, Nov. 25.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wausau.
Visitation will be at Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and at the church from 2:30 p.m. Sunday until the services.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, or to support local youth sporting activities.
Mr. Semling was born Oct. 14, 1954, in Merrill, a son of Faye (Rutte) Semling and the late John “Jack” Semling. He graduated from Merrill High School in 1973 where he lettered in golf, basketball and football.
He received a degree from Ripon College in business management in 1977 and a master’s of business administration from The College of St. Thomas in 1985.
He was married to Sharon-Diane Wesslund on June 7, 1980, in Elmhurst, Ill.
He was director of sales and marketing at Semling-Menke Company Inc., also known as SEMCO Windows and Doors, where he worked for 35 years.
He was a member of the Merrill Silver M Club and coached youth basketball teams. He attended many games of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s men’s basketball team, which his brother coaches.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Eric (Nicole), Kevin and Kurt, all of Wausau; his mother, Faye (Rutte) Semling, Merrill; seven siblings, Mike Semling, Linda Peterson, Pat Semling, Julie (Jim) Mootz, all of Merrill, Bob (Kathy) Semling, Plover, and Susan (Dean) Zimmerman, De Pere.
