Neal E. Johnson, 86, 1025 Brawley St., Stevens Point, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Sylvan Crossing Assisted Living in Stevens Point, while under the care of Heartland Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Steve Olson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Coloma.
Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the service. The American Legion will hold a ritual at 4 p.m. Sunday and the Elks Club will hold at ritual at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, both at the funeral home.
Memorials in his name should be given to Sylvan Crossing Assisted Living and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Peter and Emma (Lien) Johnson. He attended Lincoln and Emerson Schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. He received a degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) in 1949.
He served in the U.S. Navy following his first year of college at UW-Madison. He served two years as a radioman aboard the minesweeper U.S.S. Tercel, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.
He was married to Betty Warren on Dec. 27, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point.
Following graduation, he began an insurance career as an underwriter at Sentry Insurance. After several years he joined National Guardian Life Insurance Co. in Madison as a general agent covering all of northern and western Wisconsin. He continued with NGL for more than 45 years, working with it until retirement.
He was a life member and past Exalted Ruler of Stevens Point Elks Lodge 641 and a member of American Legion Post 6 and AMVETS Post 1051.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim (Judy), Bill (Roger) and Fred (Rafael); two daughters, Mary and Jean (Annie); one brother, Robert (Anne); and one grandson.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy, Marie and Eleanor.
