It’s kind of ironic that my son is a chef, because I was never really that interested in cooking. Well, he’s not really a chef, but he is on his way to becoming one. He’s working at a local restaurant as a cook and just loving it, because it’s a great team of people who are having a lot of fun at what they are doing. And that’s the best kind of job to have.
When he was little he was interested in cooking and would cook on his own and make up all kinds of dishes, and some of the combinations were really pretty creative. I was very impressed to see his efforts in the kitchen, because cooking is just hard work for me.
I absolutely love to eat, but I really hate to cook. In fact, I hate the fact that it takes so long to prepare a meal and only a few minutes to eat it. Some people tell me that cooking is really relaxing for them. Well, it’s just the opposite for me. Maybe that’s because it’s a combination of chemistry and math – neither of which were my strong suits – and you have to have several projects all “end” at the same time. That’s a lot of pressure for me, and I am just not interested.
