Robert J. Seltzner, 84, Portage, a former sports writer at the Stevens Point Journal, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Portage.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 7 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie, with Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt presiding.
Visitation was held Nov. 7 at the church.

Mr. Seltzner was born Nov. 6, 1927, a son of the late Bert and Katherine Skalitzky (Wagner) Seltzner. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army after World War II and after his honorable discharge attended La Crosse State University to study journalism.
He was a sports reporter with the Stevens Point Daily Journal in the late 1950s and also served as an investigative reporter, journalist, editor and publisher throughout his career with publications in Sun Prairie, La Crosse, Kansas City, Portage and the Chicago area. In the Chicago area he also managed several political campaigns and served for three consecutive terms as the president of the South Chicago Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo (Cornelius) Klos, Bangor, and Diane (Kenneth) Haeger, Newport Beach, Calif.; two sons, Stephen (Rebecca), Hesperia, Calif., and Robert Michael (Jessica), Arcata, Calif.; one brother, Richard (Joann); one sister, Mary Gehrmann; and nine grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one infant brother, Tom; and one grandson.
