Pacelli High School students will perform the school’s fall play, “Almost, Maine,” Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 8-11, at the school’s Faith, Arts and Community Center, 1301 Maria Drive, Stevens Point.
Thursday through Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m. Sunday will feature a matinee performance at 2 p.m.
“It’s a story about ordinary people that are flung into extraordinary situations because of the power of love,” said Paul Marszalkowski, director and choir teacher at Pacelli. “It is funny and sad in the way that love can be funny and sad… The author finds humor in the sad stuff and poignancy in the humor.”
“Almost, Maine” is a comedic drama consisting of nine, 10- to 12-minute short scenes written by American actor John Cariani. The play premiered in Portland, Maine, before opening off-Broadway in New York in 2006.
Marszalkowski saw a production of the play a few years ago. “It had always stuck in my head as a very cute but it also had meaning behind it,” he said.
