Harold O. “Toby” Thobaben II, 68, Big Horn, Wyo., a former deputy with the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, after a battle with cancer.
A private service was held in Big Horn, Wyo.
Mr. Thobaben was born Aug. 14, 1944, in Oshkosh, a son of the late Harold and Ruth Thobaben. He graduated from high school in Sparta and from the Law Enforcement Academy in Wausau.
He worked as a deputy sheriff for the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department and finished his career with the Portage County Sheriff’s Department.
He was married to Sue Eernisse on Dec. 2, 1967. They later divorced.
Survivors include one son, (Clint) Julie; two grandchildren; and his former wife.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, David.
