George E. Szymik, 82, Stevens Point, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Harmony Living Center in Stevens Point, while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.
Services were held Saturday at Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point, with Dwaine Habrat officiating. Burial was in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation was at the chapel Saturday.

Mr. Szymik was born March 6, 1930, in Fifield, a son of the late John and Anna (Detko) Szymik. He grew up on a farm until the family relocated to Los Angeles where he graduated from junior high school. He graduated from Union Free High School in Fifield in 1947.
He served as a corporal in the Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Germany. After the service he returned to Battle Creek, Mich.
He was married to Patricia Morford on Aug. 6, 1955, in Battle Creek, Mich. She died on May 15, 2006.
They lived in Milwaukee where he worked for Briggs and Stratton until he graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology in 1962. The family then relocated to Stevens Point where he worked at Consolidated Papers as an electrician and was active in the union until his retirement in 1992.
He was involved with the Boy Scouts organization for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Nancy), Minocqua, and Mike (Corrine), Milwaukee; one brother, Rudolph (Mary), California; three sisters, Mary (Joseph) Shimko and Geraldine (Cal) Richardson, both of California, and Pauline (Reno) Borzage, Arizona; and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Victor (Fran), Emil (Nettie), John Jr. (Olivebell), and Eugene; and two sisters, Rose (Bill) Bautch and Alice (Tom) Pribanic.
