Elizabeth “Betty” Nelson, 69, Minong, daughter of a Stevens Point woman and sister of three Stevens Point residents, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at her home, following a 29-year battle with breast cancer.
A Memorial Mass was held Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Minong, with the Rev. James Kinney officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Minong.
Visitation was at the church Saturday.

Mrs. Nelson was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Stevens Point, a daughter of Frances (Lisiecki) Scipior and the late Joseph Scipior. She graduated from Maria High School in Stevens Point.
She was married to Edward Nelson on May 9, 1964.
She was employed as a librarian for the Northwood School District for 37 years.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Minong and its Altar Society, serving as a Eucharistic minister.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Elizabeth J. “Libby” (Todd) Smith, Rice Lake; one son, Chuck, Minong; her mother, Stevens Point; two sisters, Joan (Don Frederiksen) Scipior, Minneapolis, Minn., and Carolyn McKee, Stevens Point; three brothers, James Scipior and Larry (Darlene) Scipior, both of Stevens Point, and Dennis Scipior, Wausau; and three grandchildren.
