Orin Alvin Kleist, 91, Elkhorn, formerly of Almond, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at his home, following a battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Almond, with Pastor Brian Roehrborn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Mr. Kleist was born April 10, 1921, in the town of Oasis in Waushara County, a son of the late Gust and Lena (Bassler) Kleist. He graduated from Almond High School and Oshkosh Business College.
He was married to Melva Zuege on June 10, 1944, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma.
They lived and farmed for 25 years on their farm south of Almond. He then worked for the Detlor Tree Farm and later for James Burns and Sons for 30 years.
He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Almond and served as their financial secretary for many years. He also was a member of the Almond Historical Society and an associate member of the Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Tom (Karen); three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank Schleicher.
