After wrapping up a Conference Title this week for the first time in program history, the Pacelli High School soccer team has its sights set on bigger goals as it enters the postseason.
Under first-year head coach Chris Bankie, the Cardinals (17-1-3, 8-0-1) have put together a somewhat surprising run so far this year, which included a 15-game win streak, as they claimed the Mid-State Conference Title.
Pacelli then beat Wautoma 3-1 in its regular season home finale on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and will look carry its success over to the playoffs, which begins with a Regional Semifinal on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
“It’s been a fun run, and we’re hoping it continues for a couple of more weeks,” said Bankie. “It’s the first-ever Conference Championship, and we’d like to be (Sectional) champs and see how far we can take this thing.”
