Harlow Ray Fletcher, 73, Berne, Ind., a town of Buena Vista native, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at West Missionary Church in Berne, Ind., with Pastor Keith Rupp officiating. Burial will be in Backesto Cemetery in Berne, Ind.
Visitation will be at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne, Ind., from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the services.
Memorials should be given to the West Missionary Church building fund or Family Life Care.
Mr. Fletcher was born Sept. 12, 1939, in the town of Buena Vista, a son of the late Ray Fletcher and Eilene Fox Fletcher.
He was married to Carolyn Shoemaker on June 3, 1963.
After high school he worked at Cutler Hammer for two years before attending Wood County Normal Teachers College. He then moved home to teach seventh grade at Pittsville Elementary before moving to Indiana to finish a teaching degree at Marion College.
He retired from teaching at South Adams Elementary School in 2004 after 43 years.
He was a member of West Missionary Church, the Edelweiss Singers, Classroom Teachers Association and the Reading Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Colleen (Peter) Rupp and Jeannine (Curtis) Wurster, both of Berne, Ind., Christine (Rodney), Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kathleen (Trent) Reynolds, Ohio; two brothers, Lee (Sue), Port Edwards, and Marvin (Mary) Hintz, Nekoosa; two sisters, Betty Ubinger, Port Edwards, and Bonnie (Dennis) Wilhelm; and 11 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Gayle; his stepfather, Robert Hintz; and one grandson.
