What’s it like to write a weekly newspaper column?
It’s not something I’ve given much thought to – I just do it. I write at home and ship the end results to The Gazette by email.
I suppose the most difficult part is coming up with fresh ideas. After a person has written a column for more than 13 years, sometimes topics are hard to come by. I’m approaching 700 columns since The Gazette began publishing in 1999, and occasionally I’ll revisit a subject with an update, like a recent column on product downsizing.
I’ve never repeated a column – except once, and that was by mistake.
