James C. Hertel, 92, Milladore, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore, with the Rev. John Ofori-Domah officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitations will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the Mass.

Mr. Hertel was born July 23, 1920, in Stockbridge, a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Steffes) Hertel.
He was married to Lillian C. Hardina on Sept. 24, 1941, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore. She died on Oct. 9, 1987.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Feb. 17, 1945, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 20, 1946.
He was a cheese maker and grader for various cheese plants in central Wisconsin.
He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 4646 of Junction City.
Survivors include four sons, David (Ellen), Parker, Colo., Donald (Jackie), Stevens Point, Richard, Savoy, Ill, and James B. (Laura), Columbia, Mo.; one sister, Sister Romona Hertel, Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joanne; six brothers, Anthony, Francis, Leo, William, Gordon and Brother Norbert; and two sisters, Sister Muriel Hertel and Marie Cherney.
