James “Jim” Pliska, 70, Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Stevens Point, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at his home.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brewer & Sons in Spring Hill, Fla.
Memorials in his name may be made to HPH Hospice Hernando or the American Heart Association.
Mr. Pliska was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Custer, a son of the late Joseph and Clara Pliska. He graduated from P.J. Jacob High School in 1960.
He served in the U.S. Army until 1963.
He completed a union apprenticeship and worked as a pipe fitter and welding instructor.
He resided in the Stevens Point area until moving to Florida in 1983. In Florida he worked for Covanta Energy for 19 years as a boiler repair quality control manager before retiring in 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Rochelle; one daughter, Karla; one son, Kevin (Tracy); one sister, Marie (Emil) Kuzynski; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lorraine; and one brother, Robert.
