Frederick W. Pfeiffer, 93, 1800B Sherman Ave., Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point.
No public services will be held.
Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids assisted the family.
Mr. Pfeiffer was born June 6, 1919, in Alsen, N.D. He graduated from Alsen High School and attended business college in Fargo, N.D.
He learned telegraphy from his father, who was the station agent in Alsen, and then began to work for the Soo Line Railroad as a train dispatcher.
When World War II broke out, he enlisted in the Naval Air Force and served for four years, mainly in the South Pacific islands.
He was married to Harriet Demarais in 1948 in Red Lake Falls, Minn.
They lived in Enderlin, N.D., and Gladstone, Mich., and then moved to Stevens Point in 1961.
He had a first-class amateur radio license.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Allen (Karla), Austin, Texas, Steven (Sherry), Lynwood, Wash., and Marty (Ginny), Middleton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
