Carl J. “Potato Man” Firkus, 78, Rosholt, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt, with the Rev. Greg Michaud officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the Mass. A general rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Firkus was born Jan. 5, 1934, in the town of Franzen in Marathon County, a son of the late Vincent and Stella (Rybacki) Firkus.
He was married to Loretta Shalewski on July 20, 1953, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt.
He worked for Maynard Steel & Casting Co. in Milwaukee for more than 23 years doing various jobs until 1976 when he retired for health reasons.
The couple moved to Rosholt in 1982.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Elroy (Catherine), Milwaukee, Dennis (Nita), Wittenberg, Donald (Georgette), Campbellsport, and Dale (Caryn), Stevens Point; four daughters, Elaine (John) Lewko, New Berlin, Darlene (Todd) Pfeiffer, West Bend, Deanna (Bob) Goszkowicz, Rosholt, and Doreen (friend Todd Zinda) Lepper, Stevens Point; three brothers, Barney (Sue), Almond, Vincent Jr. (Cookie), Wittenberg, and Victor, Stevens Point; two sisters, Christine Stroik and Dorothy (Tony) Tryba, both of Wittenberg; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Albert; three infant sisters; and one grandson.
