Frederick J. “Fritz” Filtz, 51, Stevens Point, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, as a result of a drowning incident while attempting to assist a friend in need.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent.
Visitation will be at the church from 4:30 p.m. Tuesday until the Mass.

Mr. Filtz was born June 14, 1961, in Oak Creek, a son of Joyce (Molnar) and Pete Filtz Sr. He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1979.
He was married to Melinda Thompson in 1987 in Stevens Point. They later divorced.
He was married to Karen Klish in 2005 in Plover. They later divorced.
He experienced many different careers, including working with his father in the family carpentry business, his own spray foam insulation and roofing business, and working for the Stevens Point Area School District and CAP Services. He was part of the renovation of the Rock Island Lighthouse on Washington Island in Door County.
Survivors include two sons, Justin, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jordan, Stevens Point; two brothers, Peter Jr. (Brenda) and Jeff, both of Stevens Point; and four sisters, Cindy (the late Tom) Ferg, Candace (Sonny) Meronk and Kathy (Chris) Ostrowski, all of Rosholt, and Judy (Alan) Budleski, Williams Bay.
