Mitchell Allen “Mitch” Bacher, 51, Fayetteville, N.C., a former Stevens Point resident and the son of a Stevens Point woman, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Tom Petersen officiating.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, until the service.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at JFK Chapel in Fort Bragg, N.C. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Donations should be given to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Mr. Bacher was born Oct. 18, 1960, in Rhinelander, a son of Rita Scott and Norman Deede. He graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1979.
He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, mostly in Special Forces.
Survivors include his wife, Tracey; one son, Jason, Breckenridge, Colo.; one stepson, Michael (Maurine) Watson, Fort Hood, Texas; one stepdaughter, Jennifer (Chris) Harris, Greensboro, N.C.; his mother, Stevens Point; his father, Longview, Wash.; his grandmother, Alice Bacher, Merrill; three brothers, Scott (Patricia), Boise, Idaho, Patrick (Rich), Wausau, and Erich (Carley), Denver, Colo.; and one stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Bacher.
