The current Mid-State Technical College Building (MSTC) could get a new occupant should the Medical College of Wisconsin select Stevens Point as the home for its central Wisconsin location.
Four central Wisconsin cities, including Stevens Point, submitted proposals last week to the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Board of Directors, outlining what they could offer in terms of academic, government, health and business components as reasons for the college to locate in their respective community.
A Stevens Point delegation, which included Mayor Andrew Halverson, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) Chancellor Bernie Patterson and representatives from Ministry Health Care, went to the Medical College’s Milwaukee facility last week for a tour and an informal opportunity for both sides to learn more about each other.
Dr. John R. Raymond Sr., Medical College of Wisconsin president and CEO, said the college received written proposals from four communities, which included five sites, and those proposals will be used by its Board of Directors in helping make the decision where it will locate in central Wisconsin. In addition to Stevens Point, the communities included Mosinee, Marshfield and Wausau, which submitted two possible sites.
