Marjorie Reed Murphy, 84, a former Stevens Point resident, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Sunshine Gardens West in Durango, Colo.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hood Mortuary Chapel in Durango, Colo. Burial will be Greenmount Cemetery in Durango.

Mrs. Murphy was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Richland Center, a daughter of the late Edwin “Ted” and Josephine “Jo” Reed. She graduated from high school in Stevens Point. She then attended and graduated college from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a medical technologist.
She was married to James “Jim” Murphy in Gallup, N.M.
The lived in Sumter, S.C., Virginia Beach, Va., and also overseas in France during her husband’s military career. In 1970, they retired to Durango, Colo., where she worked at Mercy Hospital as a lab technician for six years.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dan, Durango, Colo., and Mark, Preston, Md.; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Ted; and one sister, Marlys Olk.
