Richard L. Opperman, 62, Iola, brother of an Amherst Junction man, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, in the town of Wyoming in Iowa County, Wis.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Tews officiating.
Visitation will be at Voie Funeral Home in Iola from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
A memorial has been established to Crossways Camping Ministries.

Mr. Opperman was born June 29, 1950, in Iola, a son of the late William and Blanche (Bailey) Opperman Sr.
He was married to Diane Reierson on June 29, 1974, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rio.
He had a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in agricultural engineering. He worked as a lead mechanic for Del Monte and as a farm manager at Rudolf’s Ranch. He also had operated a machine shop in Big Falls.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carrie (Brett) Hartwig, St. Louis, Mo., and Corrie (Nate) Ziemer, Manawa; five brothers, William (Kathy Beyersdorf) Jr., Robert (Jeanne) and Tom (Sue), all of Iola; James (Cathy), Onalaska, and John (Sue), Amherst Junction; one sister, Mary (Jim) McCarville, Iola; four granddaughters; and his father-in law, Merlin Reierson, Rio.
