Been out to eat lately? It’s gotten pretty expensive. Times are tough, and menus have been shrinking and the prices rising. Still, people need to get out and enjoy themselves once in awhile.
A friend and I have dined out together almost every week for the past seven years. She lost her mom to cancer about the same time I lost my mother-in-law to the same terrible disease, and those having been very close relationships, we found a lot of comfort in sharing our grief. We used to spend over two hours conversing each time we would get together, and we still spend a lot of time together during a meal, although we are down to about an hour and a half now. Usually we have no idea how much time has passed, since we are so happy to be together updating each other about our week, and the time flies quickly.
Over the years we have eaten out at many places in town, as we try to hit a new place each week, and go back to our favorites often. Now that times are a little tougher, we make more careful choices, but we still meet up each week as much as we can.
