Dr. Holly A. Pohl, 51, Chicago, Ill., daughter of an Almond man, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at her home.
A private family visitation was held at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Burial was in Almond Village Cemetery in Almond.
A memorial gathering will be held in Chicago, Ill., at a later date.

Dr. Pohl was born Nov. 13, 1960, in Milwaukee, a daughter of Donald Pohl and Linda (Beier) Pohl. She grew up in Brookfield and was a graduate of Brookfield Central High School in 1979. She earned an undergraduate degree from UW Madison School of Agriculture in 1984, a master’s degree in animal science from the University of Minnesota and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.
After receiving a master’s degree, she worked in research at UW-Madison. She practiced as a veterinarian at the Connecticut Veterinary Center in West Hartford, Conn., and was currently at the Cat Hospital of Chicago, Ill., since the hospital opened in December 1998.
Survivors include her father, Donald (Marion), Almond; her mother, Brookfield; one brother, Randy, East Troy; and her maternal grandmother, Crystal Beier, Waupaca.
