Amber Grill, 1001 Amber Ave., Stevens Point, and its executive chef, Albert Schlaepfer, of Zurich, Switzerland, have been working together to give their customers new, exciting and healthy menu items.
Schlaepfer joined Stevens Point’s Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center (HIHCC) about a year and a half ago as the executive chef of Amber Grill and HIHCC wedding and banquets.
Amber Grill, which was previously operated as part of the Rudy’s franchise, has changed many menu items since its opening in January 2011. There have also been numerous additions to the previous menu, many of these made by Schlaepfer himself. The chef said enjoys creating new dishes and adding different flavors to common dishes. Something as simple as adding tomato aioli can make a world of difference to a simple turkey melt and Schlaepfer said he is always looking for new ways to do exactly that.
