Douglas D. Radtke, a member of the Portage County Board of Supervisors who died Tuesday, July 24, wasn’t always the most well-liked member of the Board, as his constant questioning of the actions of county officials and the Board itself probably gave many people headaches.
But his fiery commitment in serving the people of Portage County to the best of his abilities will be missed as the Board moves forward without him.
“I am sure our community hasn’t had such a tireless servant,” said Portage County Executive Patty Dreier, a public official he was at odds with on numerous occasions. “He was at so many meetings it was dizzying. He was informed and shaped decisions in ways in which he believed in. Whether or not you agreed with him, he really put an effort into doing what he believed was best.”
