The house at 6604 County Highway BB in the town of Buena Vista has stood for almost 100 years. Soon, however, it will be gone, because the tornado that tore through the town in May of 2011 damaged its foundation, making it unusable. Its current owner, Elaine Granger, has built a new, smaller house to the west, and plans to raze the old one.
So this seems an appropriate time to discover and tell the history of the old house. But that worthy goal has proved much easier said than done. Extensive research has turned up several mysteries, and at least as many questions as answers.
