The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Portage County from noon to 9 p.m. Monday, July 16.
The alert means the daytime heat index could exceed 100 degrees with air temperatures expected to be 95 degrees or higher.
Cooling centers are open Monday, July 16, as follows:
Stevens Point, Lincoln Center from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Portage County Health and Human Services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Portage County Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Salvation Army from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Village of Plover, municipal building from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Town of Plover, municipal building from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Amherst, Lettie Jensen Community Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Bancroft, Bancroft Babtist Church from 1 to 5 p.m.
Rosholt, Rosholt Public Library, anytime.
Almond, Almond Municipal Building from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
