The 2012 potato crop in Wisconsin is more advanced at this stage of the growing season than any other year of the previous decade. The earlier development will allow potatoes additional time to grow, with the extra growing season length allowing for an extended period of potato tuber bulking.
Longer bulking will increase the yield potential and affect other quality attributes such as tuber size profiles, solids, and other quality attributes. In other words, barring any unexpected developments, 2012 should be a great year for potatoes.
