In years past, we thought traveling by intercity bus was about the lowest form of transportation a person could experience. Such trips occasionally provided the “pleasure” of sitting next to someone with infrequent bathing habits and whose chatter wasn’t on the same frequency as yours. Maybe the seatmate pulled out a liver sausage sandwich topped with onions and chomped on it, fouling the air over several rows in seats ahead and behind. Suffice it to say the experience was usually unpleasant.
There are many fewer busses today, and the nation’s airlines have taken over that segment of the population and actually made the travel experience much worse.
