Marie J. Simkowski, 92, Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Stevens Point, died Sunday, June 24, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Military honors will follow the service.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, until the service.
Memorials in her name should be given to the Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee.

Mrs. Simkowski was born Dec. 18, 1919, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Paul J. and Johanna (Stefaniak) Pasternacki. She was a 1937 graduate of Emerson High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She entered the U.S. Women’s Army Corps on Dec. 18, 1942, in Milwaukee, serving as an Army specialty sales clerk during World War II. Her honorable discharge, at the rank of corporal, took place on Jan. 15, 1945, in Miami Beach, Fla.
She was married to Ambrose R. Simkowski on Sept. 4, 1950, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Knowlton. He preceded her in death.
She had owned Pasternacki’s Men’s Wear and was later a homemaker. She was an evacuee of Hurricane Katrina.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan M. Simkowski, Fort Smith, Ark., and Sandra A. (Roger) Trzebiatowski, Stevens Point.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul Pasternacki Jr.
