Julius R. “Julie” Szymkowiak, 85, 4546 Brockhaus Lane, Junction City, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in the St. Michael Parish Cemetery in Junction City.
Visitation will be in the St. Faustina Room of the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the Mass.
Memorials will be established at a later date.
Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home of Stevens Point assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Szymkowiak was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Robert and Cecelia (Bukowski) Szymkowiak. He attended local schools.
He entered the U.S. Army on March 23, 1945, at Fort Sheridan in Illinois. He was a tech 5 in the Army. He received the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 16, 1946, in Kansas.
He worked at Joerns Furniture and Coca Cola as a manager, retiring in 1984.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 6.
Survivors include his lifetime partner of 54 years, Mary Jane Blenker, Junction City; and two sisters-in-laws, Johanna Szymkowiak and Phyllis Szymkowiak.
He was also preceded in death by seven brothers.
