Joseph F. Firkus Sr., 84, 4707 Kennedy Ave., Stevens Point, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, with the Rev. James Trempe officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Visitation will be at the church from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

Mr. Firkus was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Plover, a son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Stark) Firkus. He attended local schools.
He was married to Dorothy Chojnacki on June 25, 1949, at St Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. She preceded him in death.
He worked for the Soo Line Railroad for many years and farmed in the town of Plover until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph Jr. (Barb) and Jerome (Lisa), both of Plover, Daniel (Alyssa), Utah, and Jeremy (Andrea), Amherst; 10 daughters, Jane (Stan) Biadasz and Dolly (David) Peper, both Amherst, Doreen (Larry) Skrzypkowski and Dawn (Keith) Dziak, both of Plover, Donna (Ken) Sankey, Jackie (Steve) Sirek, Janice (Ken) Anderson, Joyce (Jim) Demski and Jodi (Dennis) Olszewski, all of Stevens Point, and Jeanine (Matt) Jakusz Chaplin, Mont.; one brother, Lloyd (Ramona), Stevens Point; three sisters, Barbara (George) Czerwonka, New Berlin, Irene Sankey, Plover, and Evelyn Zblewski, Stevens Point; 41 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one son-in-law, David Sankey, Plover.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, five sisters and four grandchildren.
