Marcella I. Esser, 90, Plover, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Whispering Pines-The Lodge Assisted Living Center in Plover.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.

Mrs. Esser was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Frederic and Myrtle (Newby) Francis. She grew up and attended schools in Stevens Point.
She was married to Theodore Esser on Oct. 8, 1955, in Milwaukee. He died in 1996.
In earlier years, she worked several jobs before she began working for the city treasurer in 1944 and for the city Health Department in 1967. In 1976, she continued working as a secretary-receptionist for the city. In 1978, she began working for the Business Services Section at the Portage County Community Human Services Department in the Ruth Gilfry Center. She retired from there in 1987, but returned often to volunteer her time.
Survivors include three sisters-in-laws, Marion Goetz, Plover, Janet Esser, Anchorage, Alaska, and Dorothy Smith, Nokomis, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son; and one brother, Bubsie.
