Richard D. Marrs, 71, Plover, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point.
No public services or visitation will be held. Burial will take place in a columbarium in Northern Veterans Cemetery in Spooner.

Mr. Marrs was born Nov. 13, 1940, in Toppish, Wash., a son of the late Jess and Helen (Johnson) Marrs. He attended school in LaGrande, Ore.
He was married to Mary Ellen Peskie. The couple later divorced.
He joined the National Guard in 1956. He joined the Navy in 1958. He retired from active duty at the rank of E-7 Chief in 1976.
After his military career, he went to work for Central Sands. He worked for Portage County in a top level position in maintenance, retiring in 1998.
Survivors include four daughters, Michelle Marrs, Paula Marrs, Sherry Carver and Terry Carver; and two brothers, Jim and Mike.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, David; and one sister, Mary Lou.
