Thyra J. Kroner, 101, Stevens Point, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, March 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Steven Olson officiating.
Burial will be in Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery in Iola.
Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, until the service.

Mrs. Kroner was born Oct. 29, 1910, in Froslev, Denmark, a daughter of the late Carl and Karin (Sorensen) Bentzen. She grew up there and attended Store Heddinge High School. She attended nursing school at Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1931, before graduating, she spent a year in the U.S. She lived in Chicago, Ill., and worked as an au pair girl before returning to nursing school. She graduated as a nurse in 1934 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
She worked in Denmark as a nurse from 1934 to 1938. She then moved to Paris, France, and worked in the American Hospital.
She was married to Peter Albert Kroner on Dec. 21, 1938, in Copenhagen, Denmark. He died in 1999.
From 1939 to 1946 they lived in Erlangen, Germany, during World War II. She worked as a part-time nurse. In 1954 her family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Stevens Point. She worked for St. Michael’s Hospital in the emergency room and as a surgical nurse. She retired in June of 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Klaus (Mary), Stevens Point, and Sven (Dorothy), Madison; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Gurli, Harald and Johannes; and one grandson.
