Nils Martin Johnson, 80, Plover, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the Main Chapel in King, with Pastor Rich Engle officiating. Full military honors will follow the service.
Visitation will be at Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 11, and at the chapel from noon Monday until the services.
Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Beaver, Utah, a son of the late Nils Johnson Sr. and Dora Johnson.
He was married to Bernice Hotchkiss on Oct. 6, 1951, in Long Beach, Calif. She died in October 2011.
He spent 20 plus years in the U.S. military services and retired in 1973.
He also worked for the King Sanitation District more than 15 years. When he was semi-retired, he worked for Menard’s for more than 12 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer and Jackie; one son, John; one brother, Delane; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five siblings; four grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Dan.
