Hope Christensen, 96, Stevens Point, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Bill Christiansen officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Christensen was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Vernon County, a daughter of the late Emil and Stella (Perkins) Erickson. Her family moved to Minnesota where she grew up, attended grade school and graduated from Litchfield High School. She played on one of the first girls’ basketball teams in Minnesota.
She was married to Wesley L. Christensen Sr. in 1937 in Richland Center. They later divorced. He died in 2003.
She was active most of her adult life in sales, selling Beauty Counselor products and Copper Craft products, and for nearly 20 years she developed her own Appleton-based business of interior decorating, specializing in drapery fixtures.
During World War II, she provided informal voluntary Morse-code practice to U.S. Navy officers.
Survivors include two sons, Wes (Mary), Appleton, and Dale (Donna), Stevens Point; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers; seven sisters; and a special friend, Frank Zahrt.
