William Basil Bruce III, 66, Stevens Point, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, following a 10-year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Stevens Point. Burial will be in the family cemetery plot in Farmville, Va.
Donations should be given to the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum, 1100 Main St., Stevens Point, WI 54481 or the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church maintenance fund, 600 Wilshire Blvd., Stevens Point, WI 54481.

Mr. Bruce was raised in Farmville, Va., a son of the late Margaret (Davidson) and William Bruce Jr. He graduated from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va.
Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam era.
He received a pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Ill., and a nursing degree from North Central Technical College in Wausau.
He worked his whole career as a pharmacist in various stores throughout central Wisconsin.
He volunteered in his spare time doing painting projects for his church, Oak Hill Academy and the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret Rothwell Wray, Augusta, Ga.
