Bradley A. “Buzz” Blake, a former Stevens Point resident, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his home in New Mexico.
An Irish wake was held Sunday, March 18, in New Mexico.
Mr. Blake was born in Abbotsford, a son of the late Mel and Rachel Blake. He attended elementary school in Abbotsford until his family moved to Stevens Point in 1942. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1948.
He joined the U.S. Air Force after some time attending Central State Teachers College (now the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point).
Following a medical discharge, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a doctorate in anthropology.
He joined the faculty at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, from which he retired.
Survivors include three daughters, Leslie (Richard) Stephens, Laurel (Tom) Wimber and Eleanor Taylor-Marie Blake; one son, Samuel; one sister Lois (Art) Becker, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; one brother Thomas (Nancy), Hudson; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and a close local friend, Bill Cable, Stevens Point.
