Thelma H. Flood, 99, a resident at Oakridge Senior Living Community in Stevens Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point, while under the care of Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Ministry Home Care-Hospice Services or the Easter Seal Society.
Mrs. Flood was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Almond, a daughter of the late Marion and Gertrude (Stevens) Hansen. She attended elementary and high school in Almond. She attended Central State Teachers College for two years, and then taught lower grades in Adams and Fox Lake.
She was married to Kenneth Flood on Sept. 20, 1930, in Stevens Point.
She taught Sunday school and worked with missions in the First Baptist Church. She was active in Extension Homemakers for more than 65 years, holding offices in the local, county, district and state levels. She was a worker at the Holly Shoppe for many years. Survivors include one son, Marion “Bud” (Jeanette), Stevens Point; one daughter, Christine Schmelling, Stevens Point; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Janet Flood, Appleton.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Jr.; and one son-in-law, John Schmelling.
