Virginia Grace Green, 91, a Stevens Point native, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, following a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will be held in Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Mrs. Green was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Bert Melvin O’Connor and Dorothy Irene (West) O’Connor.
She began her college studies at Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point. After several semesters she moved to Chicago to finish a degree at Northwestern University while working as a medical technologist at Michael Reese Hospital and other hospitals.
She was married to John Green on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of PEO, Plymouth Congregational UCC, an associate member of Sanibel Congregational UCC and the Wakonda Club.
She and her husband were supporters of the Foster Parents Plan organization, sponsoring many children over the course of 53 years.
Survivors include three sons, two daughters and 12 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Walker III and an infant son, Peter West Green; two brothers, Hal and Jack; and three sisters Marian Jane, Jill and Shirlee.
