Marjorie E. Sommers, 79, 700 Mason St., Stevens Point, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Howard Hintzman officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in the town of Grand Rapids in Wood County.
Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Mrs. Sommers was born April 10, 1932, in the town of Linwood, a daughter of the late John and Lila (Grant) Williams. She grew up on the family farm and attended the local schools.
She was married to William H. Sommers on July 1, 1950, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Stevens Point. He died in 1983.
In earlier years, she worked for St. Michael’s Hospital as a nurse. She later worked at Richard’s Drive Inn for about five years and then was employed with the Holiday Inn as a cook for more than 15 years. During her time of employment, she worked in foster care and supported numerous children for more than 35 years.
Survivors include three sons, William (Darlene), Bancroft, Timothy, De Pere, and Roger, Stevens Point; one daughter, Christine (Mark) Geiger, Marshfield; two sisters, Hattie Pliska, Stevens Point, and Patsy (Dan) Sentz, Wasilla, Alaska; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by five siblings and one granddaughter.
